President Rodrigo Duterte made an official state visit to the Republic of Korea and gained billions of dollars for the Filipino people.The Philippines and South Korea signed a total of five bilateral agreements on Monday in a bid to strengthen ties between the two states.
The popular Philippine President Duterte and his counterpart, Pres. Moon Jae-in, presided over the ceremonial signing of these agreements during the Philippine leader's visit to Seoul, South Korea.
Here's the List of Five (5) Bilateral Agreements Between the Philippines & Korea:
1. Science and Technology Secretary Fortunato dela Peña and the Minister of Science and Information and Communication Technology You Young Min signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Scientific and Technological Cooperation.
2. An MOU on Trade and Economic Cooperation was signed by Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez and Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Paik Ungyu.
3. Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana and Paik then Paik signed an MOU for cooperation on the expansion of renewable energy deployment.
4. Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade and Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Kim Hyun-mee also penned an MOU.
5. Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III and Export-Import Bank of Korea Chairman Eun Sung-soo signed a loan agreement for the upcoming Cebu port.
During the joint statement of Pres. Duterte and Korean Pres. Moon Jae-in, Pres. Duterte voiced the importance of the bilateral agreements in ushering in "a new era of stronger cooperation and partnership."
