Former national security adviser of the Philippines and considered as one of the most patriotic Filipino, Rogelio "Roilo" Golez has passed away at the age of 71 due to heart attack as confirmed by Parañaque Vice Mayor Rico Golez.
Although Vice Mayor Golez did not release some information about the cause of death, fellow patriot and former Scout Ranger Sir Abe Purugganan noted on his social media post that Roilo Golez died due to heart attack.

Before the breaking news about the untimely death of Roilo Golez he was supposed to given an interview on Manila's maritime row with Beijing over ANC early Monday, but the former security adviser declined and sent a noted that he felt unwell.
Former Rep. Roilo Golez was considered by many Filipinos as fierce advocate of the Philippines' rights to West Philippine Sea. He was a graduae of the US Naval Academy and served as an officer of the Philippine Navy.
After the military stint of Golez, he served as postmaster general under former President Ferdinand Marcos, but he later withdrew his support for the Marcos regime and joined protests that eventually overthrew the Marcos Family from the Palace.
As a lawmaker, Rep. Roilo Golez represented Parañaque for 6 terms from 1992 to 2001. He also served as the former President Arroyo's security adviser from 2001 to 2004.
Aside from being a lawmaker and a former Navy Officer, Roilo Golez was also a professor at the Asian Institute of Management and the University of the Philippines-Diliman, where he studied Masters in Business Administration, graduating as class valedictorian.
The late stateman and patriotic citizen, Roilo Golez was also an active member of the Philippine Red Cross, Boy Scouts of the Philippines, Rotary International and several health organizations.
