The tough-talking President of the Philippines leads the destruction of 122 smuggled luxury motor vehicles at the Bureau of Customs in Port Area, Manila on May 30, 2018. The destruction of expensive luxury vehicles was shown on national TV and attended by some of the country's most prominent government officials.
According to the announcement released by the Palace, the luxury vehicles destroyed was worth around P34.71 million (approximately US$662,538), the smuggled luxury vehicles consist of 112 units of brand new Vespa scooters, one (1) used BMW motorcycle, one (1) Harley Davidson motorcycle, two (2) Triumph motorcycles, one (1) Mitsubishi Pajero, two (2) Land Rovers, and one (1) Volvo car.

Aside from the smuggled luxury vehicles being destructed, simultaneously two (2) more units of used 2002 and 2005 Ford Ecoline E350 were bulldozed at the Port of Cebu in Cebu City.
This is the third time that President Rody Duterte attended the condemnation of smuggled vehicles confiscated by the Bureau of Customs in various parts of the country.
In the latest condemnation of vehicles at the Port of Manila, the BOC revealed that the motorcycles and vehicles were smuggled through the ports of Manila, Subic, Cebu and Iloilo.
Pres. Rody Duterte previously witnessed a similar public condemnation of smuggled vehicles at the Port of Manila during the annivesary of the Bureau of Customs on February 6, 2018.
Last March 14, Pres. Rody Duterte also oversaw the destruction of smuggled luxury vehicles worth P27.2 million at Port Irene in Cagyan. Under the leadership of Pres. Duterte he has been against auctioning off contraband items because he said this would only give the smuggles an opportunity to secure them legally through the BOC.
