Government forces comprising of members from the Philippine Army and the Philippine National Police (PNP) seized terrorist fireamrs factory after storming the notorious lair of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters in Maguindanao on May 29, 2018.
According to Lt. Col. Harold M. Cabunoc, the Commanding Officer of the 33rd Infantry (Makabayan) Batallion said that the target of the joint AFP and PNP operations was the firearms factory of the terror group BIFF in the area.
The security forces of the government seized a gunsmithing machine, two Rocke Propelled Grenades Launchers, a Cal .45 M1911 pistol, a 12-gauge Shotgun, rifle grenades, unfinished home-made guns, and assorted ammunitions. Fifteen people were held for questioning but they were promptly released to the local government officials.
Aside from the PNP, the government forces made a synchronized operations featuring different capabilities, the operations was participated by different units of the Army such as the 1st Mechanized Infantry Batallion and 7th Field Artillery Battallion.
Lt. Col. Lauro Oliveros, the Commanding Officer of the 1st Mechanized Battalion said that his unit is harnessing its ability to provide maximum support to the maneuvering troops.
With the protection from artillery assets, police commandos executed the raid on the specific houses that are indentified by informants. The BIFF suspects fled in disarray, leaving behind some weapons and war materials.
Brigadier General Cirilito Sobejana, the Commander of the 6th Infantry Division has commended the troops for the successful mission.
