The Vice President of the Philippines, Vice President Leni Robredo said that the recount of votes in the 2016 vice presidential race against former senator Bongbong Marcos, which started today, should not be feared and a "fight for the truth."
VP Leni Robredo was quoted as saying "Yung Gospel ngayon sinasabi sa atin na be not afraid, parang laban natin ngayon. Noon maraming nagsasabi na walang pag-asa pero we continued fighting, we continued what we think was right. Ginagawa natin ang tama at nanalo tayo." "Ipinaglalaban natin ang katotohanan. Basta tama ang ipinaglalaban, parating may liwanag nasa dulo." VP Leni stated.
The statement of VP Leni Robredo was made during her visit at the St. Scholastica's College chapel in Manila. The said mass was attended some prominent religious personalalities including Fr. Robert Reyes and Robredo's lawyer, Atty. Romulo Macalintal. The Benedictine nuns of St. Scho also prayed for the "successful recount of the votes of VP Robredo" during the prayer before the mass.
VP Leni's statement about the "fight for truth" in the controversial recount for the VP race which was delayed for more than 2 years already did not sit well among the supporters of Sen. Bongbong Marcos who reacted on the statement of the Vice President.
According to a certain Jojo De Leon, the statement of VP Leni is contradictory to her legal team's strategy because they made sure the recount could be delayed as he suspected also that there could be some manipulations already by the camp of VP Leni but also warned that something bad will happen if they will cheat not only once but twice.
