Adam Garrie: The US Calls Duterte a "Threat to Democracy" Because He Puts the Philippines First

Veteran columnist and one of the editors of EuroAsiaFuture.com, Adam Garrie debunks the statement of an official US Intelligence report labeling Pres. Rody Duterte as a "threat to democracy." Pres. Duterte joined Cambodian Prime Minister Hen Sun as two of Asia's alleged "threat to democracy."

Accorring to Garrie the authors of the intelligence report probably have never had to live around drug addicts and the criminal elements taht surrounds them.

Aside from Pres. Duterte, the controversial Prime Minister of Cambodia, Prime Minister Hun Sen who is a fellow ASEAN respected leader and considered as the longest serving Prime Minister of Cambodia.

Adam Garrie explained that although PM Hen Sun and Pres. Rody Duterte are two different men leading two very different nations, they do have one thing in common: neither were "supposed" to open up economic doors with China.

According to the veteran author, Pres. Duterte was included in the list of leaders who are threat to democracy because of the President's plans for the Philippines. Pres. Duterte as pursued his own unique model of 21st century non-aligned multipolarity which has seen Manila open new avenues of cooperation, dialogue and economic inter-connectivity with China, Moscow and members of ASEAN with whom previous Philippine governments did not have warm relations with.

While Pres. Duterte appears to enjoy a personally warm relationship with US Pres. Donald Trump, the US Congress and wider ‘deep state’ are firmly anti-Duterte and it is no surprise why. Duterte has challenged American hegemony in the most profound ways.

Finally, in attacking the narcotics trade which funds terrorism and which itself has been historically dominated by the CIA, Duterte has hit at a US taboo, but putting his people before the black narcotics markets in which the CIA is knee deep.
