R. Tiglao Expose: How Rappler's Scheme Attack the Philippine Constitution and Our Nationhood

Veteran journalist and former envoy to the Cyprus and Greece, Rigoberto Tiglao made another enlightening expose on his latest column for The Manila Times. Tiglao revealed how Rappler's scheme could be considered as an attack on the Philippine Constitution and our nationhood.

According to Rigoberto Tiglao, Rappler President Maria Ressa's claimed that decision of thee Securities and Exchange Commission to revoke her company's registration is an attack on the free press is pure, unadulterated rubbish.

The veteran journalist stated that Ressa is lying through her teeth because she fully knows that it took the SEC the whole of last year to investigate the allegations that Rappler violated the Constitutional provision banning foreign money in and control media firms.

Tiglao also noted that there's no way SEC Chair Teresita Herbosa can be accused of being a Duterte lackey because she was appointed by no less than former President NoyNoy Aquino in 2011.

The former envoy R. Tiglao revealed on his column that Maria Ressa of Rappler obviously doesn't respect oour laws nor our country, that she imputes other motives to the SEC decision, thereby portraying the Philippines as a dictatorship going after critical media.

According to Tiglao, Rappler was given a whole year and opportunity to respond to the allegations, with Maria Ressa herself appearing in meetings with SEC investigators.

Tiglao also exposed that by taking P50-million from two US media outfits—even from one one notorious in the world for destabilizing a Ukrainian government the US didn’t like—Rappler attacked our Constitution. It undertook a scheme that would have opened the doors to foreign control of an institution crucial to developing our sense of nationhood: media.
