Sen. Risa Hontiveros was burned down by Thinking Pinoy (RJ Nieto) during the Senate Hearing on Fake News held on Wednesday when she tried to embarrash the brilliant resource person with regards to the controversial photos taken outside the office of Sen. De Lima shared by Nieto on his Facebook Page.

According to Sen. Risa Hontiveros what bloggers like Nieto did is a demonstration that they want the stature of the mainstream media without similar limitations. She also stated that she was very disturbed that a resource person invited by the Senate has disrespected a member of the Senate and write at his place of work.

Watch How RJ Nieto (Thinking Pinoy) Burns Sen. Hontiveros:

Thinking Pinoy answered brilliantly by explaining about the nature of his work as a consultant of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and how political neutrality works in the government service. Political neutrality means serving everyone equally regardless of political affiliations.

The veteran blogger cited an example of political neutrality and the nature of his work as a consultant and he is not constraint to have political opinions. Nieto noted that a few months ago, he announced on his FB Page that he is willing to help OFWs who have problems and he will look for the right guy at the DFA to solve the problem and even Sen. Risa Hontiveros can asked him for help even if he don't like the Senator.

RJ Nieto also explained that the Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Affairs under the DFA where he worked as a consultant is not a sensitive office, it is a service-oriented office. Nieto was quoted as saying "Hindi po siya gumagawa ng international policy, bale po, para lang siyang DSWD  ng DFA for OFW," Nieto said.

Thinking Pinoy also added that being in the government doesn't stop everyone including himself from expressing his own opinion, and even asked if public officials were politically neutral. He also cited a Civil Service resolution on how a consultant worked in government service, which states that there's is no employee-employer relationship and he is not a public official.

Nieto also explained that on the question the he should be nicer on his blog, he did not think so because it was his intent to tell somebody, a government official in particular, on how they should act, based on his own opinion.

Public officials are not obliged to listen to his opinion but if that opinion gains tractions, that means a lot of other Filipinos think the same way Nieto thinks, instead of blaming him, we should stop complaining and start listening.
