Netizens Lambasts Atom Araullo Over "Karapatang Pantao" Tweet

Veteran reporter and TV host of ABS-CBN, Atom Araullo made some headlines on social media after his controversial "Karapatang Pantao" tweet which elicited negative comments from some netizens.



The prominent news media personality Atom Araullo posted a controversial comment on Twitter after the House of Representative made a decision to reduce the 2018 budget of the Commission on Human Rights to just P1,000 with a vote 119-32.

Atom Araullo tweeted "Tumataas ang presyo ng mga serbisyo at bilihin. Pero di bale, nagmumura naman ang halaga ng buhay at karapatang pantao."

The statement of Atom Araullo was answered by a concerned individual "UnitedDDS" who responded by saying "Your human right is protected by the Constitution, not by CHR. Huwang kang magdrama dyan as if natanggalan ka ng karapatan pantao overnight."

A concerned netizen also attacked verbally Atom Araullo on social media by revealing that the mother of the broadcaster identified as Carol P. Araullo as an alleged NPA and a human rights violator. "Nanay nya NPA na si Carol P Araullo.... Its funny NPA talking about Human Rights..."

Dr. Carol Pagaduan-Araullo is a tri-athlete and physics instructor at the University of the Philippines (UP), she is the mother of Atom Araullo. Dr. Carol Araullo is involved in numerous cause-oriented groups.

She is the chairperson of Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan or New Patriotic Alliance), Global Vice Chair of the International League of People's Struggles (ILPS), co-convenor of the Gloria Stepdown Movement (GSM), and the Movement of Concerned Citizens for Civil Liberties (MCCCL), to name a few.

The statement of Atom Araullo also caught the attentions of Pro-Duterte blogger RG San Luis who was quoted as saying "Sunog si Atom. Pagpatuloy mo yan baka mamaya maispubliko na rin ang gender confusion mo."
