Netizens Debunked Rep. Alejano for Spreading Global Impunity Index During PNoy's Term But Blamed Pres. Duterte
One of the critics of Pres. Rody Duterte, Rep. Gary Alejano, a close ally of the Liberal Party and Sen. Antonio Trillanes, got a dose of his own medicine for allegedly spreading fake news about the controversial Global Impunity Index wherein he blamed Pres. Duterte but it turned out that the data gathered were during the Aquino administration.
Rep. Alejano lambasted Pres. Duterte for his alleged failure in the Global Impunity Index as the Philippines topped the list but it was discovered later that the data used were collected during the year 2014 under Pres. Aquino and not during the term of Pres. Duterte.
Some of the country's major news outlets like Interaksyon and ABS-CBN also reported the alleged rankings of the Philippines being the worst in impunity index, but some netizens were able to debunked the news report by citing factual datas from the researchers themselves.
The Magdalo lawmaker, Rep. Gary Alejano then shared the report and added a sarcastic caption that says "THANKS TO PRES DUTERTE FOR MAKING THE PHILS NUMBER ONE....
...AND TO THOSE CHEERING HIM"
Karma really hits hard as Rep. Alejano received a dose of his own medicine when some Pro-Duterte supporters found out that he was spreading some Fake News on social media without really examining his sources and the authenticity of the information he shared online.
The story shared by Rep. Alejano turned out to be fake news, the study that these posts were talking about was taken during the year 2014 under the administration of former Pres. Benigno S. Aquino, and Pres. Duterte is not yet the President as what Alejano accused of doing.
After careful scrutiny of the Global Impunity Index Report for the Year 2017, the researchers used the data gathered during the year 2012-2014 which means there's a three years gap in releasing the reports.
