Vice President Leni Robredo, one of the staunch critic of Pres. Rody Duterte rejected the suggestions posted by some netizens to put VP Leni as the next Social Welfare Secretary after the position was vacated with due to the recent rejection of Judy Taguiwalo by the powerful Commission on Appointments.
During the press conference in the Palace, some reporters asked the possibility of having VP Leni, the former Housing Secretary, to take over the DSWD post, the President responded with a resounding "NO" but he did not clarify the reasons why.
The President's rejection of VP Leni as head of the DSWD is considered as a failure in part of the supporters of the Vice President who was adjudged in an online poll as the leading contender for the next DSWD post.
Although the President did not name yet the successor of the DSWD Secretary, he revealed that he had asked an incumbent senator once, if "she" could be the next DSWD Chief but did not divulge the name of the incumbent senator.
Pres. Duterte likewise offered in jest the position of DSWD Secretary to the controversial ABS-CBN reporter Doris Bigornia who drew flak recently for her tricky questions against the President but she was burned down by the brilliant chief executive.
The President also noted that he will replace Taguiwalo with someone who will "avoid corruption" and "work sincerely" for the post.
