The name of presidential son and Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte was cleared by no less than Kenneth Dong the alleged middleman of Richard Tan in the controversial P6.4 billion shabu shipment smuggled from China.
According to Kenneth Dong, Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte was merely an "acquaintance" after admitting that he knew the Vice Mayor.
Kenneth Dong was quoted as saying "Nagkakilala kami way back in 2008 because I expanded my first branch of weighing scales in Davao. Acquaintance lang kasi hindi naman kami ganoon ka-close," Dong said.
During the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee Probe, Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV showed photos of Dong with Paolo Duterte and Sebastian "Baste" Duterte, both sons of President Rody Duterte.
Kenneth Dong was never a close friend of the Davao Vice Mayor despite the photos depicting such, and after numerous news report linking Vice Mayor Duterte to the controversial businessman, Kenneth Dong.
Presidential son, Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte's son was first mentioned by Customs broker Mark Taguba in a House Committee hearing last week. According to Taguba, Paolo was allegedly part of a group of individuals involved in the transactions of the BOC in Davao City called the "Davao Group."
Taguba also revealed that there are three other individuals he knew only by their nicknames are part of the group: "Tita Nani," "Jack," and "Small." When asked about Paolo's involvement, Mark Taguba said: "It's just hearsay."
The controversial witness, Mark Taguba also said that he has no personal knowledge about the Vice Mayor's alleged involvement. "Sabi-sabi lang," he told the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee.
During the hearing Sen. Manny Pacquiao, a close ally of Pres. Duterte, reminded Mark Taguba that he cannot just mention Paolo's name without proof to back up the allegation.
