Netizens Lambasts Time for De Lima's Inclusion in the List of 100 Most Influential People for 2017

Filipino netizens and even some international supporters of Pres. Rody Duterte felt disappointed in the controversial list of the 100 Most Influential People of 2017 by Time Magazine after they saw the name of detained Sen. Leila De Lima as one of the world's icons.

Time Magazine, one of the world's leading news media outlet and publication has released the names of those included in their List of the 100 Most Influential People of 2017. Two Filipinos were included in the elite list namely Pres. Rody Duterte and his staunchest critic Sen. Leila De Lima.

In a statement released to the media by Time, they explained how they came up with the list, saying they sought the counsel of personalities previously included in the roster. Readers also had the chance to choose who made the cut through an online poll which was dominated by Pres. Rody Duterte.

Netizens took to social media and shared their negative reactions on the inclusion of Sen. De Lima who was nowhere to be found in the initial list of candidates during an online poll but miraculously included in the final list of most influential people.

Time Magazine released the official list of 100 Most Influential People for 2017, he is one of the honorees under "Leaders," his profile was written by the former President of Colombia, Cesar Gaviria, who is also considered as one of the international critics of Pres. Duterte.

Most netizens took notice of the biases written on Pres. Duterte's profile as Gaviria noted that Pres. Duterte could prosecute the most violent criminals and provide treatment for users rather than condemn them to prison, or worse. Gaviria added further that "There will always be drugs in the Philippines, whether the President likes it or not."

Meanwhile for Sen. De Lima, the writer of her profile, former US ambassador to the United Nations, Samantha Power, were all praises to Sen. De Lima who is described as a vocal critic of Pres. Duterte, despite the hard facts that Sen. De Lima was incarcerated due to her alleged involvement in the proliferation of illegal drugs inside the Bilibid Prison.

The author on De Lima's piece did not investigate further the negative effects of Sen. De Lima's romantic involvement with her driver and lover Ronnie Dayan who is also incarcerated in jail right now.

Here's Some of the Negative Reactions from Netizens:

Peter Doping Dear TIME... It is such a disgusting thing for you to include Leila De Lima in your influential people's list. You even called her an icon. Why?! Well first, the woman is a fornicator with married men who were her subordinates. Second, even though she's a lawyer, she falsified petition documents to Philippine Supreme Court. Iconic, right? Oh, and lastly, SHE ALLOWED PROLIFERATION OF ILLEGAL DRUGS IN NATIONAL PENITENTIARY THAT'S WHY SHE'S IN JAIL!!!

By the way, I'm not even surprised that your article about Duterte was laced with false information and obvious lack of journalistic impartiality. You just love beating Duterte in your turf. You even had the ex-Colombian president (who has no personal knowledge, connection or experience with Duterte) to write the article about the Philippine president. The arrogant ex-Colombian president who was such a major failure in governance and eradication of drug problem in Colombia, trying to tell Duterte what to do. Hahahaha!

Sidenote: De Lima's article was written with much adoration by Samantha Power, a well-known destabilizer of non-US sovereign states masquerading in the guise of human rights. How the heck was De Lima even included here? Well... $$$

Josephat Gironella Ok lang kung kasama si Delima. Ganyan mo malalaman kung gaano kadaling bayaran ang isang media outfit. Di kasali sa list pero pinilit isama. And pano siya naging influential? Eh wala nga nagra rally na pakawalan siya

Michael FW Waldorf I VEHEMENTLY OBJECT TO THE INCLUSION OF DELIMA. Why not include Trillanes and Robredo? Wait there are some more..Riza Hontivirus..and and Kiko Pangilinan..Bam Aquino...and who else ah Loida Nicolas Lewis.

Mary Grace L. SalvaƱa Si De Lima an icon?..... @Samantha Power, you are a joke of the century, no wonder Russian Amba just ignore you while you are a US Amba to UN.

Jane Mallorca Andrion TIME magazine is no different from other trash mainstream media! You make your readers/subscribers looks like a fool! Delima is not included in the selection of the world's most influential people and lo! like a thief in the night, she suddenly appear on the list???? Money is so powerful indeed that even TIME mag. cannot afford to say no to these power grabbers!
