One of the country's most influential figure on social media Miss Mocha Uson has been appointed as a board member of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) as announced by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea on Thursday, January 5, 2016.
The Chairperson of MTRCB Toto Villareal also confirmed to the media that Mocha Uson's appointment papers are now with their agency.
MTRCB Chairman Toto Villareal was quoted in an interview with GMA News that "The MTRCB received a copy of Ms. Uson's appointment letter signed by the President; but she has yet to assume office in the agency," he said.
Meanwhile Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar did not deny nor confirm the appointment of Mocha, but he just told reporters, "Why not? What makes her not qualified?"
The former broadcaster added further that "Mocha is an artist. She is one of the biggest artists that we have in the country. She's been in the show business world for more than a decade. She's one of the biggest bloggers that we have in the Philippines, very influential," he said.
Mocha Uson commands a huge following on social media with more than 4.5 million followers on her official Facebook Page Mocha Uson Blog. The blog of Mocha even surpassed some of the country's major news network in terms of reach and engagement on social media.
