The lone gunman who attacked and caused panic and fears in Resorts World Manila committed suicide by setting himself on fire as confirmed by the Philippine National Police (PNP). Veteran reporter Connie Sison posted some photos of the lone gunman in social media and the photos went viral online.

The lone Caucasian gunman attacked the popular hotel in Pasay City in the early hours of Friday morning (local time), who forced his way into the Resorts World shot at gambling machines and set tables on fire.

It was later discovered based on the initial investigations of the authorities that the motives of the attacker is robbery because of the confiscated casino chips at the position of the gunman right after the incident.

The PNP also reported that dozens of people were injured as panicked guests rushed to get out of the building.

PNP Chief Ronald Dela Rosa also suggested that the incident wasn't terror-related due to the fact that the gunman didn't appear to be firing at people.

During an interview with the media, PNP Chief Bato Dela Rosa was quoted as saying "It's too early to tell, but so far as we are concerned there was no ISIS," Dela Rosa stated.

The PNP Chief added further that "If this is ISIS, all the people gambling inside should have been shot or already been bombed. He didn't hurt anyone. Those who were injured got their injuries when they jumped from the windows," he added.
