SWS Survey: Pres. Duterte Scores an "Excellent" Trust Rating as President


The newly-elected President of the Republic of the Philippines, Pres. Rody Duterte made another achievements on his political career as he received an "excellent" net public trust rating during the June 2016-Social Weather Stations Survey.



The June 2016 SWS Trust Survey rating is the very first survey conducted by the agency since the President assumed office as Chief Executive.

Pres. Rody Duterte garnered an overall Net Trust Rating of +79 which means that 84 percent of those polled said they had "much trust," on Pres. Duterte, 11 percent were undecided and 5 percent had "little trust. The +79 Trust Rating was derived with the formula (Percentage of "Much Trust" minus percentage of "Little Trust").

Based upon the SWS Trust Ratings, the net trust ratings of at least +70 is labelled as “excellent”, +50 to +69 as “very “good”, +30 to +49 as “good”, +10 to +29 as “moderate”, +9 to -9 as “neutral”, -10 to -29 as “poor”, -30 to -49 as “bad”, -50 to -69 as “very bad”, and -70 and below as “execrable”.

Before Pres. Rody Duterte's victory in the 2016 national elections, Mayor Rody Duterte was rated "moderate" +16 in December 2015. During the SWS Trust Rating survey last January to February 2016 had a trust rating +13 to +17. In March, the rating rose to +26, then was a "good" +30 by April.

According to the Social Weather Station (SWS) the Public Trust Rating Survey was taken from June 24 to June 27, 2016 using face-to-face interviews among 1,200 adult respondents nationwide.

SWS noted that the survey had sampling error margins of ±3 points for national percentages, and ±6% each for Metro Manila, Luzon areas outside the nation’s capital, the Visayas and Mindanao. The SWS survey results was first posted on BusinessWorld website.
