Reasons Why Pres. Duterte Avoided Lucio Tan

President-elect Rodrigo Duterte revealed the reasons why he is now avoiding self-made billionaire and Filipino-Chinese taipan Lucio Tan. The former Mayor of Davao City stated during his speech at the inauguration of Senator-elect Manny Pacquiao that Lucio Tan offered him money during elections so he purposely avoided him.






The 71-year-old incoming president was quoted as saying “I assure you that I never really accepted any money from any mining company.” “Lucio Tan for example offered money…. I purposely avoided him.” Mayor Duterte revealed.




According to Pres. Duterte all government officials should stay away from taking money, citing that this is a “bad practice” because you usually need to pay them in some other way.




Lucio Tan is considered as one of the richest businessman in the Philippines and previously held the ranked as the No. 1 richest man in the Philippines before he was overtaken by Henry Sy in the list of richest by Forbes magazine.




The statement of the first President from Mindanao, Pres. Duterte was made in Sarangani Province where he was the guestof honor in the oath-taking of Sen. Manny Pacquiao. During the said speech, Pres. Duterte also revealed that it is not Binay who was supported by Manny but it was him who got the support of the Pinoy boxing icon.
