Pres. Duterte Feels Insulted by Canadian PM Justin Trudeau for Raising Unproven HR & EJK Issues

The tough-talking President of the Republic of the Philippines said he felt insulted by one of the world leaders who visited the Philippines during the ASEAN 2017 Summit, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau who raised his concern on unproven human rights abuses and drug-related extrajudicial killings.

Pres. Duterte said during an interview with the media that he told the Canadian Prime Minister raising the twin issues  as a "personal and official insult."

The 72-year-old Philippine President said he would not explain his policies to foreign countries since he was only responsible to explain his side to his constituents who believes on his leadership, his fellow Filipinos.

Pres. Duterte was quoted as saying "You know, I was elected by the people of the Republic of the Philippines. I only answer to the people of the Republic of the Philippines. But for the others, I just said, what happened to the right to be heard? I told him, ‘did it not occur to you to wonder why?’ What they only presented was extrajudicial killing but they could not produce what happened, when and how," Duterte said.

“I will not explain. It is a personal and official insult. That is why you hear me throwing down epithets, cursing and saying b*** sh***, everything. It angers me when you are a foreigner, you do not know exactly what is happening in this country. You do not investigate,” he added.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau who made headlines earlier for visiting a local Jollibee branch and interacting with ordinary Filipino customers had said that Pres. Duterte was "receptive" when he mentioned Canada's concern over the pressing issues confronting the Philippines.

Some netizens who were supporters of Pres. Duterte suggests that maybe the Canadian leader got his wrong information from biased news media outlets in the Philippines who reported that various local and international groups have criticized the country for supposed rights violations in connection with the successful war on drugs by Pres. Duterte.

Pres. Rody Duterte's war on drugs earned praises from different world leaders as some of them were doing some research on how to replicate the success made by the Filipino leader which leads to the surrender of more than 1 million drug dependents.
