US Donates 12 Ford F-550 Trucks to Philippine Navy's NAVSOG

The United States of America through their embassy in the Philippines donated a total of 12 Ford F-550 Trucks to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) of the Philippine Naval Special Operations Group (NAVSOG). The transfer of equipment from the United States to the Philippine government was held during a ceremony at the naval Base Heracleo Alano, Sangley Point, Cavite.

During the turn-over ceremony, representatives from the Joint U.S. Military Assistance Group, as well as Capt. Alfonspin P. Tumanda Jr. and Cmdr. Jim P. Razo, the Commander and Deputy Commander of the Philippine NAVSOG were present.

Mr. Frederick Riker provides the ceremonial truck key to Philippine Navy Capt. Alfonspin P. Tumanda Jr. during the transfer of the trucks to NAVSOG. Mr. Riker is the security cooperation manager of the Joint US Military Assistance Group, and Capt. Tumanda, Commander of NAVSOG.

According to the official statement of the US Embassy in Manila the donated trucks will help ease the mobility of the NAVSOG units spread throughout the Philippines including units located in Tawi-Tawi, Zamboanga, and Davao.

They will also aid in the transport and deployment to critical areas of rigid-hulled inflatable boats that were previously delivered by the United States to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

The US Embassy also noted that over the past three years, through a variety of assistance packages, the US has provided the Philippines with over 200 million dollars of grant assistance to assist their partner forces in building the required capabilities for success.
