PSG Convoy Ambushed by NPA Members in North Cotabato (Advanced Party of Pres. Duterte)


The Presidential Security Group (PSG) convoy who served as an advance party of Pres. Rody Duterte on his plan visit to North Cotabato was ambushed by alleged member of the New Peoples Army in Brgy. Katipunan, Arakan, North Cotabato this Wednesday morning, July 19, 2017.

According to Lt Silver Belvis CMO of the 39th Infantry Batallion, a total of 10 PSG members where on board the two PSG vehicles when they were ambushed by an estimated 150 NPA guerrillas while traveling the Davao-Bukidnon National Highway.

In an interview with Brigada News FM-Kidapawan with Police Senior Inspector Argie Celeste, chief of police of Arakan PNP, a total of 5 soldiers were wounded in action during the incident and all of them were already confined at various hospitals in Davao City.

The PNP also revealed that the 10 PSG members were all coming from Davao City, the PSG Team was headed by a certain TSgt Galleno Ferbello. The team was supposed to visit Cagayan de Oro City as an advance party of Pres. Rody Duterte.

While the PSG were on their way to their destination, they were surprised when members of the communist rebels open fired at their vehicles. The NPAs were conducting a checkpoints in the national highway wearing the uniforms of the Armed Forces as members of the 3rd Infantry Batallion.

The wounded soldiers during the clash against the NPA rebels were identified as SSGT Matumhay, CPL Ayam Alia, SSGT Lisondor, CPL Rodel Ledesma and SSGT Gerry Tursal. The casualty among the soldiers was identified as Ben Padia, a member of the CAFGU.

Meanwhile one of the victims of the NPA was captured named Rogelio Mago Genon, 60 years old and considered as an asset of the CIDG.
