Israel's Elbit Systems Land Completes Delivery of Twelve (12) Soltam M-71 Howitzers


The Philippine government under the administration of Pres. Rody Duterte accepted the full delivery of 12 Soltam M-71 Towed Howitzers from one of the world's most prominent defense company, Israel's Elbit Systems Land.


The Department of National Defense revealed that the nine Israel-made 155-mm 39 Caliber Towed Howitzers (M-71) have arrived in Metro Manila.

DND stated that the Israeli-made howitzers was purchased by the national government from Israeli company Elbit Systems Land. The delivery of the powerful Soltam M-71 howitzers is now complete, after the first three howitzers were delivered on June 8, 2017.


According to DND the first three howitzers were delivered and subsequently turned over to the Philippine Marine Corps.

Meanwhile the three newly-delivered howitzers will be turned over to the Philippine Marines and the remaining six howitzers were delivered to the Philippine Army (PA).

The Philippine News Agency (PNA) also reported that the defense contract was originally priced at P438.62 million, which includes the purchase of 240 units of 155-mm high explosive shells and integrated logistics support.

The Israel defense company, Elbit Systems won the bid with an offer of P410.84 million.
