The Department of Transportation (DOTr) under the leadership of Secretary Arthur Tugade improves the air traffic radar capabilities of the Philippines from only three traffic radars covering 30% of the Philippine Airspace in 2016 to a total of 13 radars in 2017.

Under the administration of Pres. Rody Duterte, he made sure that the traffic navigation systems in the country particularly in our major airports is fully equipped with the modern technologies.

From a total of three (3) radars during the Aquino admin, the air traffic radars now is at 13 with the additional 10 ground-based air traffic radars were installed by the DOTr-Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).

With the additional 10 radars, this means that the Philippines has now a total of 13 radars, covering 85% of the entire Philippine airspace.

Definite air travel, established aircraft identification, and guaranteed air passenger safety and security are now within reach through the new Communications Navigation Surveillance / Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM).
