Bureau of Customs - CIIS Agents Seized P4.2 Million Worth of Smuggled Onions from China

President Rody Duterte once promised that he will put some trusted military man in one of the most controversial agency in the country, the Bureau of Customs which is now under the care of Commissioner Faeldon. The BOC made another accomplishments as agents of BOC-CIIS has seized an estimated P4.2 million worth of smuggled onions from China.

According to the agents of the BOC - Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) they seized a total of three containers of smuggled onions from China at the Manila International Container Port (MICP).

The illegal shipment from China was intercepted by the BOC after CIIS agents received an intel report showing that the consignee deliberately covered the onions that were underneath the fresh garlic.

Upon initial investigations, the BOC found out that the onions were consigned to Equicent Import and Export Corporation with business address at U235, 2F Velco Building, R.S. Oca corner Delgado St., Port Area, Manila.

CIIS-MICP Intelligence Officer Teodoro Sagaral also revealed the contrary to the importation permits of garlics, only 80 bags of garlic out of 2,800 bags were found inside the container by agents upon examination.

The Intel Officer also added that "The import permit presented covers the fresh garlic only but it doesn't account for the declared onions beneath the declared garlic," the CIIS-MICP Intel Officer said.

Enforcement Group Deputy Commissioner Teddy Raval recommended the issuancce of a Warrant of Seizure and Detention for misdeclaration.
