Miriam's Sister Challenges Sen. Hontiveros to Return the Alleged P1.76 Billion PhilHealth Bonus


The sister of the late Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago, Atty. Paula Defensor-Knack challenged Sen. Risa Hontiveros who previously served the Department of Health (DOH) as it's Board Member during Pres. Aquino's time to return the alleged P1.76 Billion worth of bonuses allegedly given to some officials of PhilHealth.


Atty. Paula Defensor-Knack who is now based in Europe cited some reports made by The Manila Standard last April 13, 2016 wherein they reported that the National Association of Lawyers for Justice and Peace challenged Sen. Hontiveros to return the P1.761 billion in unauthorized bonuses granted to officers and employees of Philhealth in 2013 during her term there as board member.

Aside from The Manila Standard report, Atty. Knack also shared an article from the Philippine Star wherein they reported that a Labor Group questions the former senatorial candidate Risa Hontiveros features in the state-owned PhilHealth commercial advertisements on national TV.


The sister of the late Miriam Defensor-Santiago, Atty. Paula Defensor-Knack also shared her excitement about the latest development about the alleged P1.76 billion PhilHealth bonus when Thinking Pinoy reported that he already got the details of the alleged bonuses during Sen. Hontiveros' time as board member through the Executive's Freedom of Information (FOI) portal.

Thinking Pinoy also promised to share the relevant results and information of his query about the alleged controversial bonuses of PhilHealth during the Aquino regime.
