Pres. Duterte Allots P2 Billion to Provide Free Medicines for the Poor (Video)


President Rody Duterte keeping true to his promise of easing the lives of the poor as he announced that his administration allotted around P2 billion to the Department of Health (DOH) to provide free medicines for the poor.


During the traditional lighting of the Malacañang Christmas Tree held at the Malacañan Palace grounds, the Chief Executive revealed that half of the P5-billion PAGCOR fund will be used to support the poor.

The PAGCOR fund was originally allotted for Pres. Duterte's socio-civic projects fund. Pres. Duterte noted earlier that he plans to used a part of the P5-billion fund for the construction of a rehab center in Visayas.

Pres. Duterte also noted that aside from the funds allocated to the DOH for free medicines, he will also apportioned some of the PAGCOR funds to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

In an announcement of giving P2 billion to poor Filipinos for their medicines, Pres. Duterte was quoted as saying "I want every Filipino holding a reseta of a doctor that could not find the money to buy medicines, sabi ko ibigay niyo yang P2 billion na yan this Christmas," the President disclosed.

The P5-billion PAGCOR Fund was given to Pres. Duterte during a courtesy calls of the officials of their officials. The President earlier noted that his government is working with the funds prepared by the Aquino admin, so he is looking for any possible ways to get some funds to support his administration.
