Sen. Pacquiao Challenges Ombudsman to Investigate the Yolanda Funds Instead of Gen. Bato Dela Rosa

The country's boxing icon, now a lawmaker, Sen. Manny Pacquiao challenged the Office of the Ombudsman to investigate the Yolanda Funds instead of investigating the PNP Chief Director Gen. Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa.

Sen. Manny Pacquiao defended Gen. Dela Rosa on his decision to pay for the Las Vegas trip during an interview with some reporters.

According to Sen. Pacquiao other "corrupt" activities should be investigated and particularly cited the management of Yolanda rehabilitation during the time of Pres. Aquino.

The neophyte senator was quoted as saying "Minsan, ano rin natin... may mga bagay na dapat nating tutukan especially ang corruption, lalong lalo na yan. Kailangan maipaliwanag kung saan napunta yung funding ng Yolanda," Pacquiao said.

Sen.

During the administration of Pres. Aquino, Budget and Management Chief Butch Abad admitted that of the "P150 billion for rebuilding the communities hit by typhoon Yolanda, we have released a total of P83.87 billion as of October 23, 2015." Source: www.gov.ph

Based on the report of government's Foreign Aid Transparency Hub, P17.23 Billion were received from various foreign sources including NGOs. Both amount added to a total of about P111 Billion already deployed to served 1,273,251 million families, giving a provision of about P77,000 per family. These figures being estimates based on available data, the public are encourage to verify them.

How come Vice Pres. Robredo pronounced on national media that from a target of more than 205,000 shelters, only 20,893 houses have been built or roughly 1% as March 2016.

These anomalies of the Yolanda funds should be investigated by the Ombudsman, how come only 1% of the shelter requirements have been provided after three years despite the fact that the projects were passed on to a fellow LP stalwart, VP Leni Robredo who is now in-charged of the HUDC and tasked by Pres. Duterte to be the Housing czar.
