How the Supreme Court Justices Voted for the Burial of Ex-Pres. Marcos in the Libingan ng mga Bayani
The former President of the Republic of the Philippines, Pres. Ferdinand Marcos considered by his loyalists as the most succesful head of state in terms of infrasture projects can now be buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani (Heroes' Cemetery).
The highest court of the land, the Supreme Court (SC) cleared all legal obstacles on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 to a Marcos burial. The Marcos burial is considered as one of the hottest political issues in the country with both sides defending their respective reasoning.
The Supreme Court made a decision by voting 9-5 in favor of the Marcos burial at the Libingan ng mga Bayani. The country's High Court rejected petitions that sought to stop the burial of the late President. Only one member of the Supreme Court, Associate Justice Bienvenido Reyes inhibited from the case, reducing to 14 the number of justices who voted.
