Traditional Bow of Pres. Duterte: A Remarkable Trademark During Elections that Continue as President

President Rody Duterte is best known not only for his strong statements during the campaign period of the Philippine national elections but also for his traditional bow to his fellow Filipinos. The usual sights during elections is now evident even on various international visits of Pres. Duterte.

A photo of the 71-year-old Pres. Duterte bowing before the flag of the Brunei is currently making the rounds online with thousands of Filipinos felt proud of the President's gesture towards the flag of our neighbors.

The traditional bow is now considered as a remarkable trademark of only and first President from Mindanao in all his speaking engagements not only in the Philippines but also internationally.

In Facebook post shared by a certain Monching Lumantas, he narrated how President Duterte showcased his highest form of respect to another country, its own people and its flag.

Pres. Rody Duterte visited the neighboring state of Brunei Darussalam on his first state visit as President of the Philippines before proceeding to China for a bilateral meeting with the Asian superpower.

Here's the Description of Lumantas on Facebook:

THE TRADITIONAL BOW

A typical scene in all his rallies during the campaign, a remarkable trademark in all his speaking engagements around the country.

But no other president in this nation's history has shown the highest form of respect to another country, its own people and its flag. Until now.

During the welcome ceremonies of his first state visit to Brunei Darussalam yesterday, President Rodrigo Duterte walked down the red carpet to inspect the honor guards, but he breached protocol when he made an unexpected stop, faced the flags of the Brunei Royal Army and bowed his head. His host and counterpart, Sultan Bolkiah just gave one, snappy salute.

Brunei is home to thousands of Filipino overseas contract workers. This oil-rich country has helped boost the Philippine economy by pouring billions of dollars in investments over the years. A true ally and a trusted neighbor in Southeast Asia.

This is the President's way of saying...Hello, Thank you and Goodbye Brunei 🌎
