Philippines Hosting the Miss Universe Pageant Cancelled According to Inquirer


One of the country's leading news daily, Inquirer announced through a controversial article that the Philippines will no longer be the host of the Miss Universe Pageant for the year 2016 although the pageant will be held as early as 2017, became one of the hottest topics among pageant enthusiasts in the Philippines.


The controversial post of Inquirer pinpointed the main reasons why the Miss Universe organization cancelled their schedules for the Philippines. It was allegedly due to the fact that Pres. Duterte hurt someone who were influential figures in Miss Universe organization.

Inquirer cited that co-CEO and owner of WME/IMG, the company who owned the Miss Universe and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

According to the news report posted by the leading news daily in the Philippines, the co-owner of WME/IMG, Ari Emanuel who happens to be Jewish, was offended by Pres. Duterte's controversial Hitler remarks although the President received a standing ovation earlier for his apology with the Jewish community.

Inquirer also cited that Ari Emanuel's brother Rahm Emmanuel is the mayor of Chicago, and was chief of staff to Pres. Obama while his other brother Zeke, is one of the US' foremost authorities'on health care and is often referred to as the architect of Obama's landmark health care legislation.

The post made by Inquirer received negative remarks from Duterte supporters saying that unless the Miss Universe itself made an official announcement, the news presented by Inquirer remains to be a hoax.
