Former NBI Officials Accused Sen. De Lima as "Mother of All Drug Lords"


The most controversial neophyte senator of the Republic, Sen. Leila De Lima was accused by former National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) official as the "mother of all drug lords." The two NBI official namely Deputy Directors Reynaldo Esmeralda and Ruel Lasala accused their former boss with her alleged linked to the proliferation of illegal drugs inside NBP.



NBI Deputy Directors Esmeralda and Lasala charged Sen. De Lima of violating the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, also known as Republic Act 9165.

Based upon the complaint filed by the former NBI Deputy Directors noted in the complaint that "Senator de Lima, acting as the mother of all drug lords and through the use of her authority, was able to appoint and designate men inside the Bilibid in order to ensure the perpetuation of illegal drug trade," the two former officials said.

Aside Sen. Leila De Lima, former Bureau of Corrections Chief Rafael Ragos was also named as respondent in the complaint filed by the two former NBI officials.

The complainant Esmeralda and Lasala were removed from their posts during the year 2014 under the administration Pres. Benigno S. Aquino on recommendation by then Justice Secretary Leila De Lima.

The complaint filed against the senator comes two days after a first complaint filed against Sen. De Lima and seven other former public officials by the anti-crime watchdog, Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption.

All the cases against Sen. De Lima will be filed to the Department of Justice as Justice Sec. Vitaliano Aguirre confirmed to the media that they will treat the first complaint like "another other charge" pending before the Department of Justice.
