Eidul Adha Holiday on September 12, 2016 to be Announced by Malacañang Palace


The highly anticipated regular national holiday throughout the Philippines in celebration of Eidul Adha or "Feast of Sacrifice," will be announced by Malacañang Palace this coming Monday, September 12, 2016.


Most Muslim Filipinos speculates that the Eidul Adha Festival will be held this coming September 12 after the Saudi Supreme Court has confirmed the date of the Festival last Friday.

Al Jazeera also reported that the annual festival is said to start on September 12, 2016 after the religious authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia failed to sight the Moon on September 1, 2016.

The Eid al-Adha Festival is considered as the holiest festival celebrated annually around the world by billions of Muslims including the Philippines.

In the Philippines the Eid al-Adha Holiday is an annual Regular Holiday nationwide as mandated by Republic Act (RA) 9849 signed in 2009, the tenth day of Zhul Hijja or the twelfth month of the Islamic Calendar, is hereby declared as a national holiday for the observance of Eidul Adha.

The list of national holidays for the year 2016 according to Proclamation No. 1105, s. 2015 signed by Pres. Aquino, the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) shall inform the Office of the President of the actual date of Eidul Adha so that Pres. Duterte can declare the date.

According to Islamic Faith, the Eid al-Adha Festival commemorates the willingness of prophet Abraham to sacrifice his son Ishmael as a sign and act of obedience towards God but God intervened and provided with him a sheep to sacrifice instead.
