In a live interview with Balitanghali Atty. Panelo revealed that Mayor Rodrigo Duterte's account at the BPI Julia Vargas "Did Not" have P211 million. The lawyer also asked the bank to certify what they have said and BPI asked for seven days to check if they can consider the request.
Some national TV coverage sensationalized the statement of Sen. Trillanes that he signed the affidavit but Duterte camps denied the senator's statement, because they just used a certain name. Atty. Panelo also revealed that during the face-off, Sen. Trillanes admitted that the hidden wealth of Mayor Duterte is not from BPI.
Atty. Panelo added further that his client, Mayor Duterte, never amassed million of pesos in his BPI account and he will not give a permission to open his account if he is hiding something there.
Sen. Trillanes on his part claimed on national TV that Mayor Duterte got afraid and nothing happens in their negotiation but the real truth is that the senator didn't signed the affidavit because once he signed the affidavit he will be sued in court for violating the bank secrecy law.
Atty. Panelo also noted that Mayor Duterte has given him all the power to "show the current balance as well as the fact that at no time since the opening of the aforesaid bank account was there a deposit either singly or collectively of Two Hundred Million Pesos (P211,000,000.00)"
The camps of Mayor Duterte already warned all their supporters not to believe in the reports that will come out on national news media who are accused of being bias on Mayor Duterte, particularly some of the largest TV stations with nationwide circulation.
