According to the post of Atty. Rivera, for all non-Duterte believers the photo of Mayor Duterte protecting the Lumads will definitely tell that Mayor Duterte is a communist and NPA sympathizer. The lawyer explained that most unbelievers of Mayor Duterte do not get the idea that as President he is supposed to be a unifying figure not a divisive leader of a fragmented nation.
Atty. Rivera noted that most of the Presidents failed to achieve of being a unifying figure and the country's multi-party system will always give rise to a minority president whose main goal as a leader is to unite a nation.

Here's the Complete Post of Atty. Rivera:
DUTERTE AND SOCIAL JUSTICE
Bea Rose Santiago, a very good friend and Miss International 2013 sent me this picture of our future President bearing arms protecting the Lumads. To a non-believer, the heading will definitely read: Duterte is a communist and NPA sympathizer.
But what these people do not get is that a President is supposed to be a unifying figure not a divisive leader of a fragmented nation. That is where most of the Presidents failed to achieve. A multi-party system will always give rise to a minority President whose main goal as a leader is to unite a nation. President Aquino (yes, the BS) is the most divisive President, I know. He learned from Mommy. Cory said, its either Marcos or yellow freedom. But Cory had a reason to be like that. PNoy has NO reason to be divisive but he chose to be. Worst, he is not only divisive but also vindictive. And the Roxas candidacy will fail partly because his main endorser has practically lost him votes.
The problem with the anti-DU30 is that they fail to recognize social justice from communism. If someone talks to the NPA, you will immediately be branded a sympathizer or worst, a communist. Should you dialogue with the NPA? Yes, they are Filipinos too. In the same manner we deal with the Muslim seperatist, the indigenous peoples who take up arms and all ideological struggles. We endeavor to bring them back to society. They are not terrorists despite many contrary views where there is no room for negotiations. We do not kill the likes of Macli-ing Dulag because he wanted more freedom for the indigenous peoples. We compromise. We give a little because we have taken too much. Peace is not cheap because pride is always the cost.
Duterte hates oppression. That is social justice. It is not communism where you divest the rich of its jewels. It is not feudalism where we protect ths lords. It is not despotism where we yield to one power. Social justice is the humanization of laws. It is protecting the oppressed symbolized by the Lumads. Filipinos who cannot protect themselves from oppressors. The rich, the intellectuals, the educated, the powerful, the landed do not need the same amount of benevolence and protection. Self-preservation dictates that we will find a way to protect ourselves. Hence, I need a President who will protect the helpless in my society so I do not have to worry about the negative effects of crime and fear brought as a result of the marginalization of the have-nots. My President need not protect my interests because I can take care of myself and my family. But, I need a President who has the humility to go down to the level of pauper and swallow pride sometimes just to uplift those who are so used to being bottom-dwelers, some have not even seen sunlight to ask for it.
Call Duterte anything you want. Brand him a leftist or a Communist just because he may have people in his circle who once were part of the NPA. But here is a reality difficult to swallow: people take up arms and resort to guerilla struggle not because of greed but because of desperation brought about by social injustice. That kind that brands hungry, dirty, overworked farmers as NPA so annihilation is justified.
