Commissioner Belgica Confirms PhilHealth Lost P153 Billion From Fraud Since 2013

Prominent blogger and Duterte supporter MJ Quiambao Reyes asked PACC Commissioner about the updates on the controversial issue involving PhilHealth.



According to Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) Commmissioner Grego Belgica, PhilHealth has lost more than P153 Billion to fraud since 2013.



In a Facebook interview with Belgica, MJ Reyes asked "So far, ano na po ba ang resulta sa mga naunang imbestigasyon? May mga napanagot na ba at nakasuhan?"

Commissioner Belgica answered "Of the more or less 36 Philhealth Officers and Employees, 15 officers and employees are from our Investigation in one of the Regional offices of PhilHealth, where Admin and Criminal cases will be endorsed to the Office of the Ombudsman. While 10 are Members of the Phil Health Board where we will be filing criminal cases also with the Ombudsman while retaining the administrative prosecution considering that they are Presidential Appointees. The rest of them more or less 11 from the Philhealth ExeCom and Other Cetral Office Officials or may be more are still under Fact Finding investigation to determine the degree of their involvement in the COA flagged IT project and the alleged fraud involving billions of Philhealth Funds. Next week filing."

The PACC will file complaints against 10 board members of PhilHealth who are allegedly involved in irregularities within the state insurance firm.



PACC noted that the 10 board members are among the 36 officials tagged by the commission on alleged irregularities in the corporation based on its initial findings.

Aside from the 10 board members, there are more or less 11 officials from the PhilHealth Executive Committee and other central office units are "still under fact-finding investigation to determine the degree of their involvement in the COA-flagged IT project and the alleged fraud involving billions of PhilHealth funds.

Meanwhile Senate President Vicente Sotto III confirms receiving the resignation letter of PhilHealth Senior Vice President for Operations Augustus de Villa.

According to Sen. Sotto, the PhilHealth official must have a very good reason for resigning in the midst of the controversy.
