Pres. Duterte Asks Cabinet to Find Ways to Double the Salary of Public School Teachers


The tough-talking President of the Philippines, Pres. Rody Duterte asked his entire Cabinet to find ways to double the salary of all public school teachers nationwide according to the announcement released to the media by Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque.


Spokesperson Roque revealed that the President gave the order to raise teacher's basic pay during Monday's Cabinet meeting, the very first Cabinet meeting of the President after the long Christmas vacation.

The very first President from Mindanao ordered the Department of Budget and Management and other related agencies to add a provision in the second tax reform package to fund his plans of doubling the salary of public school teachers.

Spox Harry Roque noted that the Tax Reform Package will be submitted to the Philippine Congress this month of January 2018.

The Presidential Spokesman says that there will have to be tangible results of any implementation of the second tax reform package, and said that the results should the increase in teachers' salary.

Although the Presidential spokesman did not elaborate further on how Pres. Duterte will make ways to double the salary of teachers, but judging by what he wanted for the the PNP and the AFP, it could be that he is also aiming to double the entry salary of teachers.

Pres. Rody Duterte signed Joint Resolution No. 1 authorizing the increase in base pay of military and uniformed personnel, the government announced on Tuesday morning.

The President's plans for the education sector is for the entry-level teachers in public schools to earn P20,000, excluding allowances and bonuses.
