Sen. Gordon Reveals Supports of 14 Senators on His Ethics Complaint Against Trillanes

Veteran lawmaker and former local chief executive of Olongapo City, Senator Richard Gordon revealed during an interview with some media that at least 14 senators have expressed support for the ethics complain against Sen. Antonio Trillanes.

Sen. Gordon revealed the information about the support of some senators to his ethics complaint right after the Senate Majority Bloc held a 3-hour caucus to discuss priority bills on Monday afternoon.

The senator was quoted as saying "I have the support of more than 10, more than 12, more than 14 senators," Sen. Gordon said.

The Philippine Red Cross chairman also announced that he would file the ethics complaint against Trillanes after the two clashed in a Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing into the P6.4-billion drug shipment that entered the country via express Customs lanes last week.

Sen. Dick Gordon got visibly irked during the Senate Hearing after Sen. Trillanes indirectly accused him of "badgering" witness Mark Taguba, the controversial fixer at the Bureau of Customs (BoC).

Sen. Gordon said that Trillanes had gotten away with his statements against the Senate in the past, and that it was time to discipline him.

Sen. Trillanes already called his colleagues in the Senate as "puppets" and "cowards" for their supposed refusal to investigate issues that would allegedly hurt the government.

The controversial Senator and former rebel soldier already made a statement about the controversial ethics complaint by Sen. Gordon. According to Trillanes, filing of an ethics complaint was in large part because he supported the subpoena of Pres. Duterte's son, Davao Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte and son-in-law Mans Carpio.
