Journalist Challenge LTFRB to be Fair After Suspension of Uber Service

Veteran journalist and CNN Host James Deakin challenge the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to be fair with all operators after their decision to suspend Uber for a month.

LTFRB released a suspension order for ride-sharing service Uber for a month starting August 14, 2017, as the agency ordered a cease-and-desist Uber's operation on their online booking application during the period of suspension.

According to James Deakin, he agreed with the decision of LTFRB to suspend Uber, if the company broke those rules by accrediting vehicles after the deadline because the agency are just doing their job and we have to respect that.

Although he agreed with the decision, the journalist challenged LTFRB, speaking of doing their job, he hope that in the spirit of fairness we can also hold the agency equally accountable for not doing their job in other areas.

Deakin challenge that if every application that has not been processed in the allowed time, or every bus, jeep or taxi company that has been allowed to operate even after not paying the victims of crashes, or every complaint from passengers that has not been addressed, they, too should be suspended.

Here's the Complete Statement of Journalist James Deakin:

"As big a fan as I am of ride sharing, I support the LTFRB's decision to suspend Uber for a month. Harsh as it may be, rules are rules. And if Uber broke those rules by accrediting vehicles after the deadline, then so be it. The LTFRB are just doing their job. We have to respect that.

Speaking of doing your job, I hope that in the spirit of fairness we can also hold the LTFRB equally accountable for not doing their job in other areas. After all, rules are rules. So every application that has not been processed in the allowed time, or every bus, jeep or taxi company that has been allowed to operate even after not paying the victims of crashes, or every complaint from passengers that has not been addressed, they, too should be suspended.

Seem fair? #LTFRBchallenge"
