The statement of the President against the CHR came after numerous calls from the agency to let the displaced evacuees of Marawi City to return to their respective homes because the the government forces have already won the fight.

For the past few days the CHR and their allies such as members of the Makabayan bloc in the Lower House and the Liberal Party in the Upper Chamber called the attentions of the President to allow the civilians to return to their respective homes inside Marawi City.

Finally, Pres. Duterte heed the calls of the CHR and other groups, he will now allow them to return to their respective homes, provided that it will be CHR Chito Gascon who will lead them on their re-entry to Marawi and Pres. Duterte will immediately ordered the pull-out of government forces from the battle ground.

Pres. Duterte also made some conditions aside from Gascon leading the evacuees return, he wanted Gascon to make sure that nobody will be hurt or killed among civilians because he will personally strangle the CHR chairman.
