The tough-talking President of the Republic of the Philippines, President Rody Duterte hits some of the country's most prominent media companies such as ABS-CBN and Rappler during his State of the Nation Address (SONA) speech on Monday, July 24, 2017.


President Duterte clearly said that ABS-CBN pick only some of his bad statements and made report out from it. ABS-CBN have been the target of Pres. Duterte's tirade even before his assumption of office as the President.

The first President from Mindanao also noted that he wanted some of the country's largest media company to be factual with their reports especially when reporting about his speeches and various pronouncements.

During the SONA 2017, Pres. Duterte was quoted as saying "When you are newspaper, you are suppose to be 100 percent Filipino, and yet when you start to pierce their identity, it is fully owned by Americans," he said.

"ABS, Rappler kayo ba yan?" Duterte said.

Pres. Duterte added further that "Have you try to pierced your identity? It will lead you to America and yet the constitution requires you to be 100 percent Filipino media." "Rappler, try to pierce their identity and you will end up American ownership," he said.
