Former Medellin Mayor Ricardo Ramirez Nabbed for Illegal Firearms


Former Mayor of Medellin, Cebu, Mayor Ricardo "Ricky" Ramirez was caught by the police authorities for allegedly keeping unlicensed firearms and drug paraphernalia past 6:00 AM on Wednesday, July 26, 2017.



The town of Medellin is located in the Fourth District of Cebu or North of Cebu Province. According to Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 Director Jose Mario Espino the former Mayor now municipal councilor Ramirez, 53, is allegedly engaged in narcotics in his hometown of Medellin.

In an interview with SunStar PRO 7 Director Espino was quoted as saying "He is allegedly using drugs and at the same time involved in the illegal sale of drugs. In due time, in the course of our investigation, we will further unmask his participation in illegal drugs," he said.


PRO 7 added further that the former mayor of Medellin's name surfaced last year in an intelligence reports linking him to the illegal drug trade. When asked by the media why no illegal drugs were found in Ramirez's house, Espino said that big-time personalities often do not keep the contraband with them.

Director Espino noted that "Maingat na ho sila (They're being careful), he said. The former Mayor now councilor of Medellin is now listed as the fourth town councilor caught in the past 21 days, but he denied the allegations that linked him to the drug business in northern Cebu.
