Former DILG Secretary Suggests to Buy Assets to Win the War in Marawi City

Former Interior Secretary Rafael Alunan made a brilliant suggestions on how should the government forces tackled the ongoing problems in Marawi City due to the fact that the Maute Group have established a dominant positions while the government find it hard to liberate the city.

According to Raffy Alunan if given a chance to give his unsolicited advice to the government forces, he suggest that the government should buy NOW under emergency conditions just enough assets and services to win the day in Marawi City.

Alunan suggested that it's high time for the Armed Forces to buy real tanks, even just 14 tanks equivalent to a company-sized unit, 4 of which are outfitted as flamethrowers, from Korea or Indonesia.

The losing senatorial candidate during the 2016 national elections also suggested that the government should buy 6 heavy helicopter gunships with FLIR, heavy rockets, 30mm gatling cannons for urban warfare.

Here's the Complete Suggestions of Former DILG Sec. Alunan:

If I may suggest, government should buy NOW under emergency conditions just enough assets and services to win the day in Marawi:

1.) real tanks, even just 14 tanks equivalent to a company-sized unit, 4 of which are outfitted as flamethrowers, from Korea or Indonesia.

2.) 6 heavy helicopter gunships with FLIR, heavy rockets, 30mm gatling cannons for urban warfare (Russian may be the best bet.)

3.) 6 Chinooks for fuel bomb drops.

4.) controlled demolition engineers and contractors.

5.) Stryker IED resistant armored fighting vehicles and heavy bulldozers.

6.) short-range multi-tube rocket launchers (from Russia or Turkey).

It should also place under its watch list and blacklist:

a.) all the government and private engineers and contractors that built the fort-like structures in Marawi with basements, large storage spaces, bunkers and tunnel connections;

b.) radical teachers and preachers;

c.) narcopoliticians and warlords;

d.) feuding clans

for the purpose of either detaining them and/or disarming them to neutralize their hostile capabilities and capacities.
