Sec. Villar: P757 Million Governor Miranda Bridge II Now Open to the Public (Video)

Secretary Mark Villar of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced through his official Facebook account that the P756.01-million Governor Miranda Bridge II connecting the Municipality of Carmen and the City of Tagum in Davao de Norte is now open to the public.

The newly inaugurated bridge located along Dang Maharlika, which records an average daily traffic of over 26,000 is considered as one of the major project of Pres. Duterte and the DPWH in the Davao Region.

The 18-span, 650-lineal meter bridge over Liboganon River, serves as the main access of motorists from Davao City going to other parts of Davao Region and vice versa.

According to the DPWH, the Governor Miranda Bridge II will serve as an alternative to the 62-year-old Governor Miranda Steel Bridge.

The Governor Miranda Bridge II was originally built during the year 2004 with only two lanes but under the leadership of Pres. Duterte it was widened to four lanes and could cater now to large cargo trucks containing agricultural harvests. The bridge was completed in April 21, 2017 and was inaugurated with Pres. Duterte as guest of honor last May 18, 2017.

The DPWH in Southern Mindanao said that the new Governor Miranda Bridge II was constructed with a higher elevation so traffic would remained unhampered along the Tagum-Carmen section of the Pan-Philippine Highway during flooding.
