President Rody Duterte praises Philippine Red Cross Chairman Sen. Richard Gordon during the inauguration of the First Humanitarian Mission Ship, M/V PRC Amazing Grace. The Philippine President describe PRC chairman Richard Gordon as the "incoming President."



The former mayor of Davao City now chief executive of the Republic, Pres. Duterte used the reference several times in front of members of the audience.

“We local government officials…we are not new to disasters..We deal with (them) almost every other day….We stare eyeball to eyeball with human tragedy. But nothing can beat Senator Gordon, President Gordon, Nov. 8, 2013,” Duterte said, to applause.

“That’s how I really dread crises and catastrophes like these.We have to give this to Senator, President Gordon…I’m sorry, Mr. President,” Duterte added at one point.


During the inauguration of the first and biggest humanitarian vessel in the Philippines, Pres. Duterte named Sen. Gordon as one of the to people he "dreads" to be with when they talk.

According to Pres. Duterte, Sen. Gordon talked "fast," had a "perfect diction," but hi "drawl" was "distinctly Ilocano."

The ther one was apparently former Foreign Affairs Secretary Perfecto Yasay, who also speaks with an accent.

M/V PRC Amazing Grace is former M/V Susitna owned by Alaska’s Matanuska-Susitna Borough.
