Effect of Martial Law: Zero Crime Rate in Davao City in the First 24 Hours


Davao City, the bailiwick of Pres. Rody Duterte reportedly achieved a zero crime rate for one day or for the first 24 hours after the President declared Martial Law in the entire island of Mindanao. According to some netizens in Davao, even the criminals were affected by the Martial Law.


Pres. Duterte declared Martial in Mindanao after Marawi City, considered as one of the largest Muslim-dominated city in the Philippines was attacked by the members of the Maute terrorist group in coordination with Abu Sayyaf members who pledged allegiance with the Islamic State (ISIS).

Mayor Sara Duterte of Davao City, the daughter of Pres. Rody Duterte decided to put her city in hold and secure situation to prevent any armed groups to create chaos in the city once attacked by the Maute Group by detonating an IED in one of the city's frequented night market.


Martial Law in Mindanao yields positive results in Davao City as Police blotters in all precinct in Davao City are empty, there was also no reported crime during the first day of the Martial Law.

News outlet, Newsline Philippines showed the transmittal of the PNP's log book reflecting the crime reported in various precincts in Davao City and it says "NEGATIVE."

Aside from the positive effect of the Martial Law in Davao City, residents in various areas of Mindanao were so grateful on social media for the declaration of Martial Law as they posted some photos online wherein they talked and took selfies with some uniformed men of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
