Arrest Warrant for Edgar Matobato Issued in Connection with the 2002 Kidnapping of Sali Muck Doom


Self-confessed Davao Death Squad member Edgar Matobato is now facing a new case filed against him by the National Bureau of Invesitgation (NBI) after a local court in Davao del Norte issues an arrest warrant in connection with the kidnapping of alleged terrorist Sali Muck Doom.


In a news report posted by dzBB, Judge Dorothy Gonzaga of the Panabo City Regional Trial Court 11th Judicial Branch 4 issued the arrest warrant of Edgar Matobato on Monday.

Aside from Edgar Matobato who was earlier released from jail a few hours after he surrendered when he posted a bail worth P200,000, an arrest warrant was also issued to co-accused, Sonny Custodio.

Based upon the arrest warrant issued by Judge Gonzaga the latest case filed against Edgar Matobato is non-bailable. Matobato's case was filed by the National Bureau of Investigation's Regional Office in Davao Region last January.



According to Matobato's camp the arrest order caught them by surprise, the lawyer of the self-confessed Duterte Death Squad member, lawyer Jude Sabio said they had recently filed a third supplemental motion to quash the information and to put on hold the issuance of warrant of arrest.

Edgar Matobato admitted during a Senate Hearing that he was one of those who was responsible for the alleged kidnapping of Sali Muck Doom.
