VP Leni Robredo: "Tokhang for Ransom" Happens Even Before the Korean Case (Video)

Vice President Leni Robredo said in an interview with the media that she saw the so-called "Tokhang for Ransom" happening even before the controversial death of the South Korean national. The reason according to VP Robredo was due to the blanket authority given by Pres. Duterte for policemen to carry out his war against drugs.

VP Robredo noted during the interview with GMA News To Go that the killing of businessman Jee Ick Joo may have exposed policemen's modus of implicating foreigners in illegal drugs in exchange for money, but the racket has been going on for a few months.

The Vice President was quoted as saying "Pag binigyan natin sila ng blanket authority, sasabihin natin wala kayong magiging problema, sasabihin natin na sagot ko kayo, parang it encourages them eh," the VP said.

The controversial Vice President who was kicked out earlier by the Duterte administration as head of HUDCC stated during the media interview that she already saw "Tokhang for Ransom" coming and she also thinks so many people did the same.

VP Leni Robredo added further that "We have seen so many newspaper articles, commentaries on TV and radio na nag-express na talaga ng anxiety over such a policy,” she said.
