Pres. Duterte Personally Visits Quick-Stricken Surigao City (Video)

The tough-talking President of te Republic of the Philippines, Pres. Rodrigo “Rody” Duterte personally visited the quick-stricken Surigao City on Sunday afternoon to personally check on the affected residents and oversee the relief and rescue operations conducted by LGUs and other national government agencies.

Pres. Duterte also witness the ceremonial distribution of family food packs by the DSWD and the Burial Assistance given by the national government through DSWD Sec. Judy Taguiwalo.

The former Mayor from Davao City also delivers a message to the residents at the Surigao City Hall Gymnasium, Surigao City on February 12, 2017.

During the speech of Pres. Duterte he said that the City was lucky that the magnitude 6.7 earthquake was not as strong as in other places worldwide. It could have been worse if it reached magnitude 7 in Richter’s scale.

The earthquake recorded at 6.7 by PAGASA and other agencies hit Surigao City on Friday night killing at least six individuals and leaving over 100 people injured.

Before the arrival of Pres. Duterte, the residents of Surigao City and nearby towns and provinces in the areas experienced aftershocks. One of the aftershocks was recorded as magnitude 4.1 that jolted the city while the residents were waiting for the arrival of the President.
