DPWH Sec. Mark Villar Announce the Opening of Two (2) New Lanes of Laguna Lake Highway


Secretary Mark Villar of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced that the highly anticipated opening of the two (2) new lanes of the Laguna Lake Highway will happen this coming Thursday, February 9, 2017.


The DPWH Secretary was quoted as saying "The opening of the additional two (2) lanes from Napindan to M. L. Quezon section in Taguig Cit is the first phase of the Laguna Lake Highway Project, which is expected to reduce travel time from Taytay to Bicutan by about 50%" Villar said.

The Laguna Lake Highway which was formerly known as C-6 Dike Road will be serviceable to the public after some major improvements.

According to Sec. Villar "the allocation for the 10.7 kilometer road network is P1.2289 billion, which covers the construction or widening of two (2) bridges, rehabilitation or concreting of existing asphalt road (10.28 kms) with provision of additional two lanes, including construction of 2-meter wide planting strips and 3 meter bike lane.

Sec. Mark Villar also noted that "The thrust of the Duterte Administration is to ensure not only mobility of vehicles but also individuals. More bike lanes, sidewalks will be installed throughout the country,” he said.

The DPWH also announced that complementing the widened road is the on-going construction of  additional two (2) lanes at Napindan Bridge 2 which is expected to be completed by December 2017.

The hardworking Sec. Villar also stated through a press release that travelers between Rizala and Makati/Taguig would benefit the most from improvements of the road capacity as well as travel speeds along the Laguna Lake Highway.

When completed, Laguna Lake Highway is expected to reduce travel time from Taytay to Bicutan from 1 hour to only about 30 minutes.
