Davao City Donates P2.2 Million to Flood-Stricken Areas in Mindanao


One of the country's richest city, Davao City, the hometown of Pres. Rody Duterte donates P2.2 million to flood-stricken areas in Mindanao, after some areas of Southern Philippines experienced nonstop rains in the past weeks.


According to the City Government of Davao they will allocate P250,000 each to nine areas in Mindanao as recipients of the donation.

Receiving donations from Davao City are the following flood-stricken areas of Jabonga in Agusan del Norte, Talacogon and Loreto in Agusan del Sur, Lagonglong and Lugait in Misamis Oriental, Boston and Cateel in Davao Oriental, Malita in Davao Occidental and Cagayan De Oro City.

Davao City councilor Danilo Dayanghiran, chairman of the Committee on Finance, Ways and Means and Appropriations of the 2nd District of Davao City confirmed to the media and said that the fund to be used as donation came from the remaining P98.6 million of the Quick Response Fund of the city for 2017.

The hometown of Pres. Rody Duterte which is under the leadership of Pres. Duterte's children, Inday Sara and Paolo Duterte has a total budget of P240.4 million for Disaster Risk Reduction Management in 2017, with P102.1 million allocated for the Quick Response Fund.

Aside from the donations to the areas affected by floods in Mindanao, last Saturday, Davao City Central 911 Chief Emmanuel Jaldon brought some 5,000 food packs to CDO, where floods reached as high as three feet.

Davao City is best known in Mindanao to be one of the most generous city in terms of relief and rehabilitation efforts in areas affected by calamities. Before the Mindanao floods, Davao City also donated P3.4 million to the victims of Bagyong Nina in the provinces of Quezon, Batangas, and Marinduque.
