CIA Documents Reveals Pres. Cory Aquino Requested Air Strike from US to Attack Filipino Rebel Soldiers


The late former President of the Republic, Pres. Cory Aquino was involved in a very controversial documents recently declassified by the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Based upon the documents, Pres. Aquino requested assistance from the US to crush the rebel soldiers led by Col. Gregorio Honasan through the use of airstrikes.

 
The documents which was first stumbled upon by MindaNation founder Carlos Munda came from the CIA themselves. It is only one of the 13 million pages of documents published by the CIA after a non-profit freedom of information group, MuckRock, sued the CIA to force it to upload.

Based upon the formerly classified documents, the former President Aquino asked for US assistance to crush the rebels who wanted to topple her government by using F-4 Phantom Jets owned by US Air Force.

MANILA – (DJ) — DEFENSE SECRETARY FIDEL RAMOS SAID MONDAY THE U.S OFFERED MILITARY ASSISTANCE TO CRUSH A MUTINY BY DISSIDENTS SEEKING TO TOPPLE PRESIDENT CORAZON AQUINO.
LAST FRIDAY, AQUINO ASKED FOR U.S ASSISTANCE IN CRUSHING THE MOST SERIOUS ATTEMPT TO OUST HER FROM POWER. U.S WARPLANES PROVIDED AIR COVER TO ALLOW PHILIPPINE FORCES TO ATTACK THE REBELS. U.S. AND FILIPINO OFFICIALS SAY THE U.S. F-4 PHANTOM JETS DID NOT FIRE A SHOT AND CEASED OVERFLIGHTS SATURDAY MORNING.
THE LOS ANGELES TIMES AND THE WASHINGTON POST REPORTED LAST WEEKEND THAT THE AQUINO GOVERNMENT ASKED FOR AIR STRIKES BUT U.S OFFICIALS REFUSED BECAUSE OF POLITICAL RISKS IN KILLING FILIPINOS.
RAMOS TOLD REPORTERS THAT U.S. AMBASSADOR NICHOLAS PLATT OFFERED U.S HELP TO AQUINO “IN VERY GENERAL TERMS.” RAMOS SAID AQUINO TOLD PLATT TO DISCUSS THE OFFER WITH MILITARY OFFICIALS.  “FRANKLY, I WAS A LITTLE SURPRISED ON THE VOLUNTARY OFFER ON THE PART OF THE U.S. GOVERMENT TO PROVIDE US ASSISTANCE,” RAMOS SAID.
ON MONDAY, OPPOSITION MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVE FILED A RESOLUTION ” CONDEMNING (THE UNITED STATES) IN THE STRONGEST TERMS POSSIBLE AS UNNECESSARY AND UNCONSTITUTIONAL” FOR ASSISTING MILITARILY. THE RESOLUTION FILED BY 12 OPPOSITION CONGRESSMEN, CALLED THE REQUEST BY THE PHILIPPINE GOVERNMENT ” A SHAMELESS ACT OF SURRENDER OF SOVEREIGNTY TO A FOREIGN POWER.”

It was just fortunate for the rebel soldiers because American officials refused to bomb and strafe because of political risks of killing Filipinos. The F-4's flew just flew over Metro Manila in a show of force that sent a clear message to rebel soldiers.

Former Pres. Cory Aquino witnessed a total of six failed plots to overthrow her government. Based on Philippine history, the most serious of the coup attempt happened during the year 1989 when member of RAM headed by Col. Gringo Honasan almost captured Malacanang. The uprising failed because the Aquino admin got the help of the US.
